The XLSX crosstable must contain one row per player with one column per round. Each round cell contains: result + color + opponentNr — e.g. 12w1 (beat #12 as White) · 7b½ (drew #7 as Black).

How this Swiss next round pairing predictor works

This tool predicts probable next round pairings for Swiss chess tournaments. It works with both live tournament URLs and crosstable files exported from Swiss pairing software. The data includes the full history of results, colors and opponents for every player.

Score groups and pairing logic

Players are grouped by current score points following Swiss pairing logic. Within each score group, the top half is paired against the bottom half following Swiss system logic. Players who cannot be paired within their group are floated to the adjacent group.

Color prediction

Color estimates are based on each player's color history and balance. The tool checks who played White or Black in the previous round and applies alternation logic. A reliable estimate is shown when both players have clear alternation signals.

How to get the crosstable from your pairing software

Most Swiss pairing software can export a crosstable in Excel format after each round. The file should include round details showing each player's opponent, color and result. You can also fill the provided template manually.

Accuracy and limitations

Score group membership and color estimates are highly reliable. The exact opponent within a group is harder to predict: the official arbiter software applies full FIDE Dutch System rules including complex rematch cascades and color equalization priority that are not fully replicated here. Use this next round pairing predictor as a practical guide, not a definitive official pairing.
