Review smarter with spaced repetition
Spaced repetition (SM-2 adapted for chess openings) is built for opening preparation: it helps you actually memorize openings instead of just replaying them. Each line comes back right before you'd forget it. Only a perfect 100% speeds up the schedule; below 80% you review it tomorrow. No line ever disappears for months. Review notifications take you straight to the line that's due.
Train anywhere on the virtual board
Full training parity with the physical board, on screen: tap-to-move and premove, just like on chess.com or lichess. Review your opening lines and variations anywhere: your iPad becomes a training station, your iPhone keeps your repertoire in your pocket.
Drill the positions you keep getting wrong
ChessFlow finds your weak spots so you can fix them.
As you train, ChessFlow quietly tracks the positions where you go wrong most often — and serves them back to you as targeted puzzles. The app plays the opponent's move; you find the repertoire reply, with no hints. Get a position right consistently and it drops off the list. Turn on Whole Repertoire Drill for an endless stream of random positions drawn from every line you've already trained — a fast way to keep your whole repertoire sharp. Puzzles never change your review scores: you improve those through real training.
Play it out against the computer
Every position you study is a game waiting to happen. Stop anywhere in a line — move 8, move 15, or halfway through a sideline you're exploring — and play it out against Stockfish from that exact spot. You play your repertoire color; if it's the opponent's turn, the engine opens. The scoresheet carries the full move history, so it reads like a real game — theory first, your plans after.
Your repertoire, from any source
Import your opening repertoire from PGN files, paste FEN positions, or link an iCloud folder from another chess app: ChessFlow reads your files and never modifies them. Library organized by opening, per-file progress badges, repertoire color ("I play this as Black"). Attach a PDF, your notes, or a course image to any file for study material that travels with your lines.
